Manifesto “Future of Work in Curaçao” sets course for new work reality

Willemstad, December 19, 2023 – The “Future of Work in Curaçao – Technology, AI and Migration” conference held in October this year, organized by the Social and Economic Council (SER) of Curaçao, resulted in an innovative manifesto that was presented this week. The conference, held in the auditorium of the Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten (CBCS), provided more than just a platform for discussion. In-depth analyses were presented on future labor market trends, with a focus on the transition from a tourism-driven economy to promising sectors such as ICT, renewable energy and the so-called orange economy.

The manifesto, resulting from this conference, represents a shared vision and commitment by all stakeholders to create a future where work not only generates income, but is a source of holistic fulfillment, opportunity and social progress. This commitment is supported by specific goals, data and accountability mechanisms. The manifesto proposes a people-centered Future of Work that embodies ,,our collective aspirations and lays the foundation for a more just and prosperous tomorrow”.

The creation of a multi-stakeholder implementation structure translates the vision into concrete action plans. This highlights the determination of to address the challenges and opportunities of the modern labor market and transform it into a source of national pride and progress.
