SERs Spain and Curaçao see added value in strengthening institutional ties

WILLEMSTAD, Nov. 16, 2022 – The Director/Secretary General of the Social and Economic Council (SER) of Curaçao Mr.  Raul Henriquez, together with Mrs. Miloushka Sboui-Racamy, legal advisor at the SER in charge of international affairs, paid a working visit to the headquarters of the Social and Economic Council of Spain (Consejo Económico y Social de España) in the Spanish capital Madrid on November 2, 2022. The SER’s technical official delegation was received by the Secretary General of the Spanish sister organization, Mrs. Soledad Serrano Ponz, during a working breakfast where they exchanged views on the current situation in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC region) in the field of cooperation between the socio-economic advisory councils and the future projects of the SER of Curaçao in this regard, which has been an active member of the regional network of socio-economic councils of the LAC region (CESALC) for several years.

The working visit took place on the margin of the participation of the Curaçao SER technical official delegation in the “Global Deal High Level Forum on Social Dialogue; Towards a just transition”, an annual international social dialogue event, held this year in Madrid on November 2 and 3 and organized by the Global Deal Initiative under the auspices of the Government of Spain.

The Global Deal is a multi-stakeholder initiative for social dialogue and inclusive growth and a global partnership of governments, businesses, employers’ organizations, trade unions, civil society and other organizations that aims to jointly address global labor market challenges and enable as many people as possible to benefit from globalization. The Global Deal was established by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD/OECD) and the International Labor Organization (ILO), among others.

In early May this year, the Curaçao ESC officially became a partner of the Global Deal and since then has been actively participating in all virtual meetings and working sessions of this international platform (https://ser.cw/2022/05/11/ser-sluit-zich-aan-bij-het-global-deal-initiatief/).
