SER-Curaçao Looks Back on a Successful Seminar in Ivory Coast as AICESIS Chair
Willemstad, July 4, 2024 – In the wake of a hybrid board meeting of the International Association of Economic and Social Councils and Similar Institutions (AICESIS), SER-Curaçao, as AICESIS Chair, led an international workshop in Abidjan, Ivory Coast on May 30 and 31. The theme: “The Role of Social Dialogue and Its Institutions in Combating Inequalities in the World of Work.” More than half of the 70 AICESIS members from all corners of the world participated, both physically and virtually. This workshop marked an important best practice initiated by the SER of Curaçao and built upon an earlier joint conference of AICESIS and the International Labour Organization (ILO) in November 2023 in Athens, Greece. During the workshop, the ILO presented “ILO’s Strategy to Combat Inequalities and the Connections with the Athens Declaration,” which followed up on the aforementioned conference in the Greek capital. This session provided AICESIS members with the opportunity to indicate how the ILO can support them in their fight against inequality. Participants from Latin America and the Caribbean, Europe, Africa, Asia, Eurasia, and the Middle East actively shared their experiences and initiatives. The full program and presentations are available online.
