Introductory visit by new chairwoman Cft

WILLEMSTAD, March 21, 2023 – The new chairman of the Boards of Financial Supervision (Cft), Mrs. Lidewijde Ongering, who was appointed as of February 1, 2023, paid an introductory visit to the Social and Economic Council (SER) of Curaçao on Thursday, March 16, 2023. There she was received by the acting chairman of the SER Mr. John Jacobs and the director/general secretary Mr. Raul Henriquez. During the introductory meeting, current socio-economic issues were discussed, and the importance of healthy public finances was underlined as a basis for making public and private investments that should lead to more resilience and sustainable development of the island. Ms. Ongering, who in her new role is responsible for overseeing Curaçao’s budget, expressed general satisfaction with the progress being made in this area although there are still risks to be mitigated.
