SER attends presentation on innovative submarine project Proteus Ocean Group
“A cooperation that strives for climate mitigation and local development”
Willemstad, October 27, 2023 – A technical delegation from the Social and Economic Council (SER) attended a presentation on Proteus Ocean Group’s groundbreaking underwater research project on Monday evening, Oct. 23, 2023. Mr. Fabien Cousteau, grandson of world-renowned naval officer and oceanographer Mr. Jacques-Yves Cousteau, co-founder and at the same time Chief Oceanic Explorer of Proteus Ocean Group, led the presentation. He was assisted by Lisa Marrocchino, CEO and board member of Proteus Ocean Group. The event was co-hosted by the Curaçao Chamber of Commerce.
The presentation, which took place during a well-attended event, was not only inspiring but also innovative and promising. Proteus Ocean Group has announced a frequent presence in Curaçao during the upcoming construction phase of their modular underwater habitat. Locations at Cas Abou and Nieuwpoort are currently being investigated for their suitability as potential sites for the habitat.
Proteus Ocean Group stresses the crucial importance of cooperation with both local and international organizations. In addition, they strive to use local personnel whenever possible. Moreover, they intend to make a valuable contribution to our country by sharing data, knowledge, and intellectual property rights of local innovations. They also see a wide range of educational opportunities not only for Curaçao but for the entire world, especially in climate mitigation.
