SER Cura\u00e7ao welcomes delegation from the Dutch Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations<\/span><\/h1>\n

\u00a0Willemstad, June 29, 2026 \u2013 The Social and Economic Council of Cura\u00e7ao received a delegation from the Dutch Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations on Friday, June 26, for an introductory meeting focused on Cura\u00e7ao\u2019s social and economic landscape and the role of independent advisory institutions within the Kingdom.<\/p>\n

The delegation was composed of Mr. Ren\u00e9 Bagchus, Director for Kingdom Relations; Ms. Simone Augustuszoon, Policy Advisor; and Ms. Marieke van der Linden, who is expected to assume the position of Deputy Representative of the Netherlands in Willemstad in August 2026.<\/p>\n

The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss SER Cura\u00e7ao\u2019s mandate as an independent advisory body on social and economic affairs. The SER explained how, through its tripartite composition of employers, employees and independent members, the Council seeks to produce broadly supported advisory opinions on issues central to Cura\u00e7ao\u2019s development, institutional resilience and social cohesion.<\/p>\n

The exchange also addressed current social and economic developments in Cura\u00e7ao and the structural challenges facing the country. Participants reflected on the importance of institutional dialogue, evidence-based policymaking and consensus-building in preparing public policy that is both socially responsive and economically sustainable.<\/p>\n

SER Cura\u00e7ao expressed its appreciation for the visit. Meetings of this nature help deepen mutual understanding of the administrative and socioeconomic realities in which institutions operate. They also provide a meaningful basis for continued contact and constructive dialogue on matters of shared relevance to Cura\u00e7ao and the Kingdom of the Netherlands.<\/p>\n

SER-advies uit over initiatiefvoorstel tot herziening OZB-stelsel<\/span><\/h1>
Willemstad, 15 juli 2025 \u2013 De Sociaal-Economische Raad (SER) heeft op vrijdag 11 juli jongstleden een advies uitgebracht over de initiatiefontwerplandsverordening tot wijziging van de Landsverordening inzake de belastingheffing van onroerende zaken (Landsverordening onroerendezaakbelasting 2014). Het advies werd uitgebracht op verzoek van de Staten van Cura\u00e7ao.<\/p>
Het initiatiefvoorstel is afkomstig van de fractie van de MAN in de Staten, die zich hierbij beroept op het recht van initiatief zoals vastgelegd in artikel 77 van de Staatsregeling van Cura\u00e7ao (A.B. 2010, no. 86). Dit artikel verleent Statenleden de bevoegdheid om wetsvoorstellen zelfstandig in te dienen en aan de regering voor te dragen.<\/p>
Met het ontwerp beogen de indieners een herziening van het huidige OZB-stelsel, onder meer door aanpassing van de tariefstructuur, verhoging van de vrijstellingsdrempel en vereenvoudiging van de administratieve verwerking van de belasting op onroerende zaken.<\/p>
