Survey offers first snapshot of workplace inclusion<\/span><\/h1>\n

WILLEMSTAD, March 6, 2026 \u2014 The Social and Economic Council (SER) of Cura\u00e7ao has received yesterday an independent research report examining inclusion, diversity and the sense of belonging in the island\u2019s workplaces. The study, prepared by Report App B.V. and Optima Arbodienst B.V., is based on an anonymous, multilingual online survey of 402 working people across Cura\u00e7ao.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The findings point to a mixed picture of workplace culture. While a majority of respondents reported generally respectful interactions with colleagues, 18.7 percent said they had at times withheld personal information out of concern about how it might be received. 43.8 percent also reported regularly hearing stereotypical jokes related to gender expression \u2014 an indication, researchers said, that subtle forms of exclusion and tension around diversity may persist in some professional environments.<\/p>\n

The authors describe the study as descriptive and exploratory in nature, intended primarily to map experiences and perceptions rather than establish causal relationships.<\/p>\n

The report was received for review within the framework of the SER\u2019s advisory work on socio-economic issues. As Cura\u00e7ao\u2019s tripartite advisory body \u2014 bringing together representatives of employers, workers and independent members \u2014 the council provides guidance to the government and Parliament on matters affecting socio-economic policy and development.<\/p>\n

The findings may serve as a starting point for further reflection and discussion within ongoing social dialogue on labor relations and working conditions in Cura\u00e7ao.<\/p>\n

SER-advies uit over initiatiefvoorstel tot herziening OZB-stelsel<\/span><\/h1>
Willemstad, 15 juli 2025 \u2013 De Sociaal-Economische Raad (SER) heeft op vrijdag 11 juli jongstleden een advies uitgebracht over de initiatiefontwerplandsverordening tot wijziging van de Landsverordening inzake de belastingheffing van onroerende zaken (Landsverordening onroerendezaakbelasting 2014). Het advies werd uitgebracht op verzoek van de Staten van Cura\u00e7ao.<\/p>
Het initiatiefvoorstel is afkomstig van de fractie van de MAN in de Staten, die zich hierbij beroept op het recht van initiatief zoals vastgelegd in artikel 77 van de Staatsregeling van Cura\u00e7ao (A.B. 2010, no. 86). Dit artikel verleent Statenleden de bevoegdheid om wetsvoorstellen zelfstandig in te dienen en aan de regering voor te dragen.<\/p>
Met het ontwerp beogen de indieners een herziening van het huidige OZB-stelsel, onder meer door aanpassing van de tariefstructuur, verhoging van de vrijstellingsdrempel en vereenvoudiging van de administratieve verwerking van de belasting op onroerende zaken.<\/p>
