Cura\u00e7ao and Dutch SERs align advisory priorities<\/span><\/h1>\n

The Hague\/Willemstad, January 26, 2026 \u2014 En route to Thessaloniki, in Greece\u2019s Macedonia region, for the annual statutory board meeting of the International Association of Economic and Social Councils and Similar Institutions (AICESIS), Drs. Raul Henriquez, Director and Secretary-General of the Social and Economic Council (SER) of Cura\u00e7ao, met in the Netherlands for a working lunch with Prof. Dr. Kim Putters, President of the SER of the Netherlands.<\/p>\n

The meeting took place at the SER\u2019s headquarters in The Hague. In a private exchange, the two discussed recent socioeconomic and governance developments in the two countries within the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Central to the conversation was how advisory priorities and knowledge development can be better aligned \u2014 mindful of shared challenges, while recognizing the distinct contexts in which both councils operate.<\/p>\n

Mr. Henriquez continues on to Thessaloniki for the AICESIS Board Meeting on January 30, 2026, where representatives of socioeconomic councils from multiple regions will convene to discuss the association\u2019s international work agenda.<\/p>\n

SER-advies uit over initiatiefvoorstel tot herziening OZB-stelsel<\/span><\/h1>
Willemstad, 15 juli 2025 \u2013 De Sociaal-Economische Raad (SER) heeft op vrijdag 11 juli jongstleden een advies uitgebracht over de initiatiefontwerplandsverordening tot wijziging van de Landsverordening inzake de belastingheffing van onroerende zaken (Landsverordening onroerendezaakbelasting 2014). Het advies werd uitgebracht op verzoek van de Staten van Cura\u00e7ao.<\/p>
Het initiatiefvoorstel is afkomstig van de fractie van de MAN in de Staten, die zich hierbij beroept op het recht van initiatief zoals vastgelegd in artikel 77 van de Staatsregeling van Cura\u00e7ao (A.B. 2010, no. 86). Dit artikel verleent Statenleden de bevoegdheid om wetsvoorstellen zelfstandig in te dienen en aan de regering voor te dragen.<\/p>
Met het ontwerp beogen de indieners een herziening van het huidige OZB-stelsel, onder meer door aanpassing van de tariefstructuur, verhoging van de vrijstellingsdrempel en vereenvoudiging van de administratieve verwerking van de belasting op onroerende zaken.<\/p>
