Kim Putters: \u2018Toward shared prosperity\u2019<\/b><\/span><\/h1>\n<\/div>\n

WILLEMSTAD\/KRALENDIJK, November 9, 2025 \u2014 At the annual meeting of the International Association of Economic and Social Councils and Similar Institutions (AICESIS) held in Willemstad, Cura\u00e7ao, under the chairmanship of the Social & Economic Council (SER) of Cura\u00e7ao, Prof. Dr. Kim Putters, chairman of the Social & Economic Council of the Netherlands (SER Netherlands), stressed in a closed session the importance of shared prosperity and structural collaboration within the Kingdom. In the wake of his public lecture \u201cNavigating the Narrow Path to Shared Prosperity: A Societal Transition\u201d<\/em>, delivered at the University of Cura\u00e7ao (UoC) on March 5 this year, Mr. Putters emphasized the need for a robust knowledge base, open dialogue with social partners and consistent implementation of policies that unite wealth and environment.<\/p>\n

Under Cura\u00e7ao\u2019s two-year presidency of AICESIS, progress has been achieved with the development of the Sustainable Growth Index (SGI) \u2014 a practical tool designed for governments to steer toward prosperity that is economic, social and ecological in equal measure, with a long-term horizon. \u201cIt was inspiring to see how Cura\u00e7ao provided agenda-setting leadership,\u201d Mr. Putters said. \u201cIt was an honour to be part of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Following the conference, the Dutch delegation led by Mr. Putters conducted a four-day working visit to Bonaire. In meetings with local officials and civil-society stakeholders, the SER Netherlands explored how it can contribute concretely to the socio-economic development of the three BES-islands. Additional online sessions were held with Sint Eustatius (Statia) and Saba. The objective: peer-to-peer knowledge sharing, a shared advisory methodology and data-driven policy design aligned with the principle of broad-based prosperity.<\/p>\n

The mission concluded with an invitation to the ceremonial celebration of the installation of Cura\u00e7ao\u2019s new Governor, Mr. Mauritsz de Kort, held at the Governor\u2019s Palace. \u201cMasha danki for the open conversations, the hospitality and the friendship,\u201d Mr. Putters remarked.<\/p>\n

SER-advies uit over initiatiefvoorstel tot herziening OZB-stelsel<\/span><\/h1>
Willemstad, 15 juli 2025 \u2013 De Sociaal-Economische Raad (SER) heeft op vrijdag 11 juli jongstleden een advies uitgebracht over de initiatiefontwerplandsverordening tot wijziging van de Landsverordening inzake de belastingheffing van onroerende zaken (Landsverordening onroerendezaakbelasting 2014). Het advies werd uitgebracht op verzoek van de Staten van Cura\u00e7ao.<\/p>
Het initiatiefvoorstel is afkomstig van de fractie van de MAN in de Staten, die zich hierbij beroept op het recht van initiatief zoals vastgelegd in artikel 77 van de Staatsregeling van Cura\u00e7ao (A.B. 2010, no. 86). Dit artikel verleent Statenleden de bevoegdheid om wetsvoorstellen zelfstandig in te dienen en aan de regering voor te dragen.<\/p>
Met het ontwerp beogen de indieners een herziening van het huidige OZB-stelsel, onder meer door aanpassing van de tariefstructuur, verhoging van de vrijstellingsdrempel en vereenvoudiging van de administratieve verwerking van de belasting op onroerende zaken.<\/p>
