Hague students dive into SER Cura\u00e7ao’s policy insights<\/span><\/h1>\n

Willemstad, January 18, 2023 – A group of ambitious third-year students from The Hague University of Applied Sciences, along with their instructors, were recently welcomed at the Social and Economic Council (SER) of Cura\u00e7ao. The outdoor meeting on Wednesday January 17, thoughtfully arranged at ‘t Klooster Boutique Hotel in response to the resurgence of COVID-19 and other flu variants, ensured a safe and engaging environment for a rich exchange of ideas.<\/p>\n

Specializing in public administration, law, European studies, and business administration, these students are part of the ‘Kingdom Relations’ minor, a program providing a practical perspective on governance within the Kingdom and a deep dive into Caribbean public administration.<\/p>\n

Their academic visit to Cura\u00e7ao include meetings with key institutions like the Boards of Financial Supervision (Cft), the Parliament, and a cultural immersion in Otrobanda, enhancing their understanding of the region’s governance.<\/p>\n

The session at SER was particularly illuminating, focusing on the council’s advisory role, thematic priorities, and international commitments. The students engaged in vibrant discussions, delving into current socio-economic challenges.<\/p>\n

Steven de Lira, the acclaimed author of \u201cEveryone is a Mentor,\u201d was invited to speak by SER advisors, offering insights on collaborative approaches within the Kingdom. His presentation highlighted the SER’s innovative role in help fostering a kingdom-wide mentorship platform for youth, aligning with broader goals of social and economic development.<\/p>\n

The partnership between The Hague University and SER continues to thrive, evidenced by the internships completed in 2023 and the anticipation of welcoming another intern. This collaboration underscores SER’s dedication to offering practical experiences that are pivotal for the students’ professional and personal growth.<\/p>\n
