SER advice on review and repair of tax laws<\/span><\/h1>\n

Willemstad, March 23, 2023 – The Social and Economic Council (SER) of Cura\u00e7ao issued today its advice to the Minister of Finance on the draft of the so-called “sweeping law” (veegwet), which proposes amendments to various tax ordinances, including the General National Taxes Ordinance, the National Ordinance on Profit Tax 1940, the National Ordinance on Wage Tax 1976, the National Ordinance on Income Tax 1943, and the National Ordinance Tax Facilities for investments.<\/p>\n

The tripartite advisory body, consisting of representatives of the business community (employers and employees) and independent experts, was previously requested by the minister to consider and advise on the draft.<\/p>\n

The objective of the legislative amendments proposed in the draft \u201csweeping law\u201d is to fill omissions, correct errors and bring about technical improvements in Cura\u00e7ao’s tax legislation. The aim is, among others, to adequately comply with the international norms and standards of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in order to continue to attract international economic activities.<\/p>\n

A sweeping law is one that usually includes only adjustments of a technical nature.<\/p>\n

Advies SER over herziening en reparatie belastingwetgeving<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>

Willemstad, 23 maart 2023 \u2013 De Sociaal-Economische Raad (SER) heeft vandaag advies uitgebracht aan de minister van Financi\u00ebn over het concept van de zogenaamde \u2018veegwet\u2019, waarin wijzigingen worden voorgesteld in diverse belastingverordeningen, zoals onder meer de Algemene landsverordening Landsbelastingen, de Landsverordening op de Winstbelasting 1940,\u00a0de Landsverordening op de Loonbelasting 1976, de Landsverordening op de inkomstenbelasting 1943 en de Landsverordening belastingfaciliteiten investeringen.<\/p>
Het tripartiete adviesorgaan, bestaande uit vertegenwoordigers van het bedrijfsleven (werkgevers en werknemers) en onafhankelijke deskundigen, kreeg eerder het verzoek van de minister om zich over het concept te buigen en daarover te adviseren.<\/p>
Met de in het concept-veegwet voorgestelde wetswijzigingen wordt beoogd omissies aan te vullen, fouten te herstellen en technische verbeteringen tot stand te brengen in de belastingwetgeving van Cura\u00e7ao. Het streven daarbij is, onder meer, om\u00a0in adequate mate te voldoen aan de internationale normen en standaarden van de Organisatie voor Economische Samenwerking en Ontwikkeling (OESO) om blijvend internationale economische activiteiten aan te kunnen trekken.<\/p>
Een veegwet is een wet waarin doorgaans alleen aanpassingen van technische aard worden opgenomen.<\/p>
