SER follows launching of ILO instrument for self-assessment<\/span><\/h1>\n

WILLEMSTAD\/GENEVE, 15th of November 2021 \u2013 The International Labour Organization launched the previously announced self-assessment tool (SAM-SDI) today to help its member states improve the effectiveness and inclusiveness of their national institutions for social dialogue, such as the SER. Advisors of the SER-secretariat followed the launching virtually. The tool was developed as part of the action plan for social dialogue and tripartism (2019-2023) that was ratified by the ILO\u2019s Management Board at the March 2019 session. The plan also implements the resolution and conclusions on social dialogue of the International Labour Conference (ILC) of June 2018.<\/p>\n

The SAM-SDI (self-assessment method for social dialogue institutions) guides the stakeholders of social dialogue \u2013 governments, employers\u2019- and workers\u2019 organizations \u2013 through a process that analyses the inclusiveness and effectiveness of social dialogue. Based on this analysis they can develop and implement an action plan to increase the influence of the institution on policy-making. Social dialogue which is based on respect for freedom of association and the right to effective and collective negotiating play a crucial role in developing policies to promote social justice, social and economic progress. Institutionalized systems for social dialogue, such as the SER, play a key role in the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations (the SDG\u2019s), in particular SDG 16, which aims to improve the following: peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, access to justice for all and effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels.<\/p>\n

Social dialogue is also an essential part of SDG 8, which focuses on sustainable and inclusive economic growth, full and productive employment opportunity and decent work for all. It is also important when implementing SDG 5, concerning gender equality.<\/p>\n
